If you're into dating Filipino women, you've probably met (or are dating) a woman from Cebu. You are also probably wondering what your first date would be like if you were to travel to Cebu to meet her. In case you didn't know it yet, Cebu the island is that long island located smack in the middle of the Philippines. The island's capital is Cebu City where you can find the big shopping malls, call center and outsourcing companies, and the international sea port area. The international airport, however, is located in the neighboring Mactan Island (still part of Cebu the province), where you can find the expensive hotel resorts like Shangri-La.
If you're dating someone from Cebu, just remember that majority of the women there are NOT island women who go to the beach everyday to fish and pick sea shells. Whenever possible, the average Cebu woman goes to the Ayala or SM shopping mall to window shop and to cool down after work or after school.
Going to the beach is, more often than not, a weekend affair with family, friends, or lovers.
If you really want a true blue island girl, you better go to the so-called more rural areas of Cebu island. We would recommend MoalBoal (three hours from Cebu City) because there's a concentration of resorts there, dive spots and local girls who are just waiting to be plucked out. If you're into studying history by the beach, Boljoon has something for you. The Boljoon Church is the oldest Church in Cebu that still has its original stones intact. It has been, in fact, declared a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine National Museum.
Archaeologists in February 2008 discovered – at the front lawn of the church, no less - 26 human remains believed to be those of the Maharlika class (nobility). Discovered with the remains are 16th century Chinese plates and gold jewelry dating from the same period.
If you plan on making a side trip to Boljoon to swim in a place that's less commercial than the Mactan area or else to see some artifacts, make sure you ride a car, it's just more fun that way.
